If you listened to this week’s episode, you already know this:
Your emotions aren’t random.
They aren’t weaknesses.
And they aren’t enemies.
They’re messengers.
And sometimes the most important work isn’t fixing how we feel—but learning how to listen.
So instead of explaining emotions again, I want to invite you to slow down here and reflect.
Take a breath.
Notice what you’re feeling right now.
Not what you think you should feel.
Not what you’ve been telling yourself to feel.
Just… what’s actually there.
There’s no rush.
God is not hurried with your process.
Instead of asking, “What’s wrong with me?”
Try asking, “What is trying to get my attention?”
Consider:
Don’t analyze yet. Just notice.
Awareness is the first act of wisdom.
Emotions often form as protectors long before they become patterns.
Ask gently:
Sometimes anger protects hurt.
Sometimes control protects fear.
Sometimes numbness protects overwhelm.
This isn’t about judging the emotion.
It’s about understanding its role.
Emotions are often downstream from belief.
You might ask:
Not every belief you uncover will be true.
But every belief you notice brings clarity.
And clarity opens the door for renewal.
This is where we pause and invite God in.
Not to make the feeling go away.
Not to shame it.
Not to spiritualize it too quickly.
But to submit it.
You might pray something like:
“Lord, this emotion feels loud. I don’t want it to lead me. Help me understand what’s true. Show me how to respond with wisdom.”
Seeking the Kingdom first doesn’t mean ignoring emotions.
It means letting God’s truth interpret them.
A Simple Practice for This Week…
When an emotion rises, try this three-step pause:
1. Name it – “I feel angry / anxious / overwhelmed.”
2. Listen – “What might this be pointing to?”
3. Submit – “God, help me respond, not react.”
No fixing.
No forcing.
Just faithful attention.
You are not broken because emotions feel messy.
You are human.
And God is not intimidated by your inner world.
He meets you there—patiently, kindly, and truthfully.
If you want practical tools to walk this out in your family, marriage, or parenting, the Happy Kid Toolkit was created for exactly this kind of work—real emotions, real responsibility, real transformation.
And if you haven’t yet, I encourage you to listen to Episode 93: Your Emotions Are Talking for the full teaching that pairs with this reflection.
You don’t have to silence your emotions.
And you don’t have to obey them.
With wisdom, you can learn to listen well.
If this reflection stirred something in you—
if you’re realizing there’s more beneath the surface of your emotions—you don’t have to walk that journey alone.
Twice a year, I host the Renew & Restore Women’s Healing Retreat, a sacred, in-person space for women who are ready to slow down, listen deeply, and allow God to do restorative work in their hearts.

Sometimes healing doesn’t come from pushing harder—
it comes from stepping away long enough to listen.
